Concrete Safaris has been preparing youth in East Harlem and beyond to lead healthy lives and shape their environment through outdoor education, play, exploration, and community engagement for more than a decade. Concrete Safaris seeks a highly motivated individual interested in non-profit strategy and growth, fundraising and philanthropy, youth development, and marketing to join our team as a Development and Communications intern.

Concrete Safaris raises funds to support its work through a combination of foundation and government grants and corporate and individual contributions. The Intern will work directly with the Executive Director and play a vital role in meeting CS’ fund development objectives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The ideal candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented, and organized excellent writer, clear communicator, independent worker, enthusiastic collaborator, and multi-tasker able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Must have good computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Some experience with video editing and/or graphic design is a plus.

Primary responsibilities include:

 Research new sources of funding, including foundation and government grant prospects and potential corporate supporters.
{{item}}
 Assist with outreach to prospective corporate partners, sponsors, and individuals.
{{item}}
 Help develop and draft grant proposals and reports.
{{item}}
 Assist in preparing supplemental materials for foundation, corporate, and government funding requests and reports as needed.

 Create content to support development and communication needs, including social media, newsletters, and blogs.
{{item}}
 Assist with special event planning, which may include outreach for in-kind donations and corporate sponsorship as well as publicity and graphic design support.

 Support individual and monthly donor communication, acknowledgments, and stewardship efforts.
{{item}}
 General office administrative and other tasks as assigned.

Hours per weeks 10-15 (on site 2-3 days/week)
